About the Book

“Siéntate a comer, esta muy bueno!”

Sit down and eat, it’s very good! This was how Jesusita always welcomed guests to her table. The same words served as inspiration for her daughter Evangelina and granddaughters Yvette and Veronica when they started the Muy Bueno Cookbook blog in 2010. Their blog was a finalist in the Saveur magazine 2012 Best Food Blog Awards and has attracted thousands of fans and followers who have fallen in love with Muy Bueno’s flavorful Mexican recipes, heartwarming family stories, and beautiful photography. Now by popular demand, the best of Muy Bueno is in a cookbook!

Now they open their hearts and kitchens to an even wider audience, sharing beloved family recipes and memories in their first cookbook. Spanning three generations, Muy Bueno offers traditional old-world northern Mexican recipes from Jesusita’s kitchen; comforting south of the border home-style dishes from Evangelina; and innovative Latin fusion recipes from Yvette and Veronica.

Whether you are hosting a casual family gathering or an elegant dinner party, Muy Bueno has the perfect recipes for entertaining with Latin flair! There are timeless classics like Enchiladas Montadas (“Stacked Enchiladas”) and Frijoles de la Olla (“Beans from the Pot”) and easy-to-prepare staples like Homemade Corn and Flour Tortillas and Toasted Chile de Arbol Salsa. You’ll also find exotic delicacies like Menudo (“Hominy and Tripe Soup”) and Lengua (“Beef Tongue”); and healthy and light seafood appetizers like Shrimp Ceviche and Scallop and Cucumber Cocktail. And don’t forget refreshing Aguas y Paletas (Mexican coolers and popsicles); tempting sweets like Coconut Flan and cinnamon-drenched Mexican Wedding Cookies; and daring, dazzling cocktails like Blood Orange Mezcal Margaritas and Persimmon Mojitos. There is truly something in Muy Bueno for every taste.

Includes:

  • More than 100 easy-to-follow recipes
  • A glossary of chiles with photos and descriptions of each variety
  • Step-by-step instructions with photos for how to roast chiles, make Red Chile Sauce, and assemble tamales
  • A rich family history shared through anecdotes, photos, personal tips, and more
  • Stunning color photography throughout

Pre-Order at:

“If you love Mexican comfort food and fantastic photography, you need Muy Bueno on your kitchen bookshelf!”

as soon as Jackie learns what two teaspoons are, and Cyndi understands that 1 cup of chicken broth isn’t enough if the recipe calls for four cups of chicken broth. Then maybe we can critique the recipes, but, until we get it right, it is going to be thick and sweet mole.

Hello…I was looking for a recipe for Green Enchiladas and came across your website. I love the web site. Collecting family recipes is so important. I lost my mother over six years ago and I regret not having written down everything she made. I do have some of her recipes and cherish them. God Bless and take care.

My parents are Salvadorian. They used to call me Hispana Arrepentida because I didn’t want to learn about our roots and wasted to be as American as possible. Now as an adult, married to un gringito…guess who’s making him tortillas and black beans. I’m more hispanic than ever and wish I had embraced our aztec background a bit better, because I’m also leaning heavily on their healing techniques. I so want your book. Congratulations on your success.

Thank you!!!What a GREAT story! So glad to hear you are now embracing who you are and where you come from.

Great to hear of an upcoming cookbook, I am from New Mexico but live in California and need some recipes including lenten ones. I remember my mom cooking lenten food especially on Fridays. Of course I was not there to enjoy but I do remember these foods as a child. Anxious to hear when your book is coming out….

Thank you Chris! Our goal is to post meat-free recipes during the Lent season. Please be sure to subscribe to our blog to receive recipes and details about our cookbook release via email. Thanks for stopping by!
